Who owns Q magazine?
  • Q magazine is owned by Bauer media group. Bauer also own Kerrang, Smash Hits TV, Bella, Take a break and T.V Choice.
How are the images presented?
The images of Q magazine are portrayed in a way like no other. An example is the Central Dominant Image shown on July 2009 front cover was Lady Gaga. This CDI relates to the male market because the image shows Lady Gaga topless. She is using her arm to cover her upper half which would clearly attract the male target audience.
Demographic Adverts
Q magazine covers the following adverts:
·        Technology adverts.
·        Flash cars (Ferrari and Mercedes)
·        Alcohol (Scotch, Whiskey)
·        Important gigs.

Q magazine has adopted the style of using Formal Language.

Classic Rock is owned by Future publishing house.

How are the pictures presented?

The images in Classic Rock are presented in a fact file like layout. This means that there is the storyline to the left of the page and there is an image taking up the full page on the right.

Classic Rock covers many advertising brands which appeal to the male market. Adverts are:
·        Smoke Head Whiskey.
     Kawasaki
·        Thomann
·        Concert tickets to gigs
·        CD Adverts to promote the artist(s).

What Language is used?
The language is informal.

What Layout is used for Classic Rock.

Layout used is that the text is shaped around the box with the image around it to attract the Target Audience.

Prelim Task (Designing a magazine front cover)

This is my Prelim Task which was design a school magazine front cover. 

What I did to edit the image was that I changed the red eye reduction. I did this because the Target Audience would want to see the colour of the eyes.

Also, I changed the brightness of the image. this is because if the image was too bright then the Target Audience would not be able to see the Centeral Dominant Image.

I also changed the white background over so the image would not be cut out. this is because before I changed it over, the white background was cutting out the image.
