Classic Rock front cover analysis

Day in the Life of a Classic Rock reader

Age:  The age of the typical Classic Rock ideal reader would be aged between 15-20 years old. This would be good because the Classic Rock magazine is based on old style rock legends such as Ozzy Osbourne and how he joined Black Sabbath.

Gender:  The gender of the Classic Rock reader would be male. This is because the Target Audience would be male. Also in the magazine, women would not like the content of the magazine because they would not be interested in bands such as Skidrow and Guns N’ Roses. This is simply because these types of bands do not fit what the women want in the magazine.

Career Aspects: Classic Rock readers would want to be like their favourite rock star heroes. They would like to be as famous as these people and have the knowledge to also be a rock star.

Wealth: The readers of Classic Rock need to earn a lump sum of money to afford the magazine which costs £4.99 and this is  monthly. These people need to be in the Middle Class band who wants to become a Rock Star.

Media Interest: The ideal reader of Classic Rock would be interested in different aspects of media such as Social Media. Social Media example is Facebook. The reason behind an ideal reader looking on websites such as Facebook is because they would want to know what people such as Ozzy Osbourne are up to. The ideal reader would also use YouTube to get an idea into their head about what genre of rock you would want to do.

Interest: Classic Rock FM, T.V (Classic Rock TV) Video games such as Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock, Guitar Hero 5, Rock Band and Guitar Hero Greatest Hits which includes many Rock theme tunes such as DragonForce Through The Fire and the Flames.

2) The types of adverts shown in Classic Rock magazine are squarely aimed at the Male market. An example of male adverts is shown on Pages 1 and 2 where there is a double spread advert which is about a Kawasaki motorbike. This is a good example as the advert portrays what a man thinks he should have in life.

Also in the advert, there is evidence of persuasive language. An example of this is “Show your true colours with the aggressive Kawasaki      Z1000. Styled to make maximum street fighter impact.” This is a good example as it is not just telling the Target Audience to do this but it is commanding them to do it. This would appeal to a Classic Rock reader because he sees himself or aspires himself to be a strong masculine individual who is in control of his life and he feels that there is no one in his way to stop him from living the dream.
